Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Vrow Cornelia (master Tjaart Tammes Dykstra).

Nationality: Dutch.

History: bound from Bordeaux to Plymouth, laden with brandy, cork, prunes and wine; taken on 1 July 1809 by the privateer General Doyle (John Kraft commanding), and brought into Fowey, Cornwall.

Appellant: The captor.

Thomas Baker, ship broker of London, for the ship as protected by HM licence; and Lewis Michael Simon, ship broker of London, for the cargo of brandy on behalf of John Newmark, Messrs W Corlass and Son and others, British subjects protected by the licence.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 13 June 1811 (folios 29-65) [no folios 43, 60, 64].
