Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Antigua.

Captured ship: Olivia (master Charles Teubner).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Guadeloupe to New York, laden with coffee and sugar; taken in September or October 1806 by the privateer Alexander Billington schooner (John Alshorn commanding), and brought into Antigua.

Appellant: John B Gauthier, supercargo, for sundry cargo on behalf of Claudius G Fontaine, Mr Neath, Ebenezer Stevens, James Vidalot and William Russay, American citizens.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 9 May 1811 (folios 342-346).

Decision: condemned goods claimed by Vidalot, further proof required in respect of other claims.
