Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Barbados.

Captured ship: Ruthy (master Jesse Huffington).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Martinique to Baltimore, laden with sugar, molasses and coffee; taken on 11 November 1808 by HMS Circe (Hugh Pigot commanding) and HMS Amaranthe (Edward Pelham Brenton commanding) two of the squadron blockading Martinique, and brought into Dominica.

Appellant: The master for the ship on behalf of Thomas Tenant merchant of Baltimore; and Nathan Levy the supercargo for part of the cargo on behalf of himself and others of Baltimore, American citizens.

Respondent: The captors and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decrees of 2 and 9 March 1811 (folios 55-71).

Decision: 1) against the appeal in respect of the ship and goods claimed by Levy, subject to further proof of the property; 2) certain goods to be restored as claimed.
