Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Barbados.

Captured ship: Catharina Elizabeth (master Sven Sjobeck).

Nationality: Swedish.

History: bound from Oratava, Teneriffe to Plymouth, laden with wine, dollars and merchandise; taken on 23 April 1805 by the privateer Spy (Edward Fairman Dwyer commanding), and brought into Carlisle Bay, Barbados.

Appellant: Gabriel Jemmett of Barbados for the ship on behalf of F W Coster, P Moller and Lars Engstrom of Helsingberg, Swedish subjects.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 23 June 1810 (folios 263-285).

Decision: ship to be restored; captor condemned in costs.
