Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica.

Captured ship: Hiram (master John Fiott).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Cap Francois, Saint Domingue (then under blockade) to Charleston, laden with sugar, coffee etc; taken on 1 December 1803 by HMS Desiree (Henry Bayntun Hodgson Ross commanding), and brought into Jamaica.

Appellant: Robert Henry of Kingston, Jamaica for part of the cargo on behalf of Messrs Depean and Toutain merchants of Charleston, American citizens.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 2 June 1810 (folios 423-437).

Decision: matter to stand over for the attestation of J J Duckworth.
