Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Mercurius (master Christian Hermans).

Nationality: Bremen.

History: bound (under the flag of Kniphausen) from Bordeaux to Bremen, laden with molasses, wine, tobacco stems, cork and prunes; taken on 17 December 1807 by the privateer Hero (Aaron Groub Blewett commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

Appellant: The captor.

Charles Cummerow merchant of London for the cargo, on behalf of Messrs Hucke and Co, Bremen merchants; and for the ship on behalf of J G Koens merchant of Kniphausen (condemned as prize to the captor in the previous appeal hearing).

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 3 March 1810 (folios 1-17).
