Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Orozembo (master William Brewster).

Nationality: American.

History: sailing under a charter-party taken by 17 passengers, travelling under assumed names with Portuguese passports, found to be in the Dutch military service and two in the Dutch civil service; bound from Lisbon to Macao (though intended to compel the master to proceed to Batavia), in ballast; taken on 16 June 1808 by HMS Lively (George McKinlay commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Appellant: Thomas Wilson merchant of London for the ship on behalf of William Boyd of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, American citizen.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 3 February 1810 (folios 283-298).

Decision: against the appeal, appellant to pay costs of the appeal.
