Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Antigua.

Captured ship: Jane (master Mark Lynch).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Martinique to New York, laden with sugar and coffee; taken on 16 April 1807 by the privateer Alexander Billington (John Allshorn commanding), and brought into Antigua.

Appellant: The master for part of the cargo on behalf of Henry Cheriot of New York.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 28 June 1809 (folios 242-249).

Decision: further proof required.
