Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured ship: Volunteer (master John P Morris).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Curacao to New York, laden with ides and Nicaraguan wood; taken on 7 June 1805 by HMS Leander (John Talbot commanding), and brought into Halifax.

Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo on behalf of Abraham S Hallet, and $129 on behalf of Gilbert Shotwell of New York, American citizens.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 26 May 1808 (folios 431-450) [no folios 432, 437, 443, 446, 449].

Decision: against the appeal.
