Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Antigua.

Captured ship: Echo (master David Higgins).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Nantes to Madeira and St Bartholomew, laden with wine, utensils for boiling sugar, slate, bricks and pig iron; taken on 7 or 9 November 1805 by HMS Unique (George Rowley Brand commanding), and brought into Antigua.

Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo on his own behalf.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 3 March 1808 (folios 57-69) [no folio 62].

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored subject to further proof.
