Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica.

Captured ship: Gracy (master Noah Swain).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Trinidad to Baltimore, laden with sugar etc; taken on 7 January 1800 by HMS Retaliation (Samuel Peter Forster commanding), and brought into Jamaica.

Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo on behalf of Messr Rogers and Owings of Baltmore, the owners.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 10 February 1808 (folios 406-410).

Decision: registrar's report referred back for further consideration.
