Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica. Captured ship: Cleopatra (master John Oliver Waterman). Nationality: American. History: bound from to, laden with logwood, indigo, cotton, fustic and specie; taken on 28 November 1800 by HMS York (John Ferrier commanding), and brought into Jamaica. Appellant: Peter Aupoix merchant of New York, American citizen, for the ship and majority of the cargo on his own behalf. Respondent: The captor. Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 5 April March 1805 (folios 37-61). Decision: ship, cargo and specie to be restored subject to further proof. Folios 37-40: case on behalf of the appellant; Folio 40: decree; Folios 41-44: case on behalf of the respondent; Folios 45-57: joint appendix; Folios 58-61: additional appendix |
