Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of the Bahamas.

Captured ship: Isabella (master Cornelius Lingo).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Cap Francois, Saint Domingue to Charleston, laden with sugar, coffee, molasses; taken on 29 March 1801 by the privateer Plover (John Harrington commanding), and brought into New Providence.

Appellant: the master for sundry cargo on behalf of himself and William Gibson, merchant of Charleston.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 7 July 1804 (folios 169-179).

Decision: goods condemned in lower court to be restored.
