Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured ship: Susannah (master Alexander Combes).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from New York to St Thomas or St Domingo, laden with provisions and merchandise; taken on 18 April 1799 by HMS Earl of Moira (James Fawson commanding), and brought into Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo on behalf of Casmir Delavigne merchant of New York.

Fillis, Boyd and Fillis of Halifax, Nova Scotia for the ship.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 25 February 1804 (folios 344-360).

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored subject to further proof.
