Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Gibraltar. Captured ship: Jonge Sybrandt (master Jasper Schmerkel). Nationality: Danish. History: bound from Amsterdam to Civitavecchia and Naples, laden with tobacco, cheese, leather, white paint, stockfish and other merchandise; taken on 12 June 1798 by HMS Success (Philip Wilkinson commanding), and brought into Gibraltar. Appellant: The master for himself for the ship and part of the cargo (cheese, white paint and stockfish, his private adventure). Respondent: The captor and HMPG. Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 7 December 1803 (folios 1-2). Decision: ship and private adventure to be restored. Folios 1-2: further proof; Folio 2: decree |
