Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of St Kitts.

Captured ship: Active (master Louis Mauras).

Nationality: Swedish.

History: bound from Guadeloupe to St Bartholomew, laden with coffee and cotton; taken on 22 march 1799 by HMS Perdrix (Charles Fahie commanding), and brought into St Kitts.

Appellant: The master for the ship on behalf of [John Joseph] Cremony of St Bartholomew, Swedish subject, and said JJ Cremony on his own behalf for the cargo.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 27 July 1803 (folios 533-541).

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored subject to further proof in respect of the cargo.
