Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Tortola.

Captured ship: Young William (master Benjamin Tatem).

Nationality: Danish.

History: bound from Guadeloupe to St Croix, laden with Indian corn, meal, sugar and biscuit; taken on 27 January 1800 by the privateer Regulator (John Edgars commanding) insight of privateer Dreadnaught (Robert Wilson commanding), and brought into Tortola.

Appellant: William Krause and Christian Krause, Danish merchants of St Croix for the sugar.

Respondent: The captors.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 21 July 1803 (folios 496-504).

Decision: goods to be restored; captors condemned in costs of the appeal.
