Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica.

Captured ship: Haabet (master Swarte Erick Pihlgren).

Nationality: Danish.

History: bound from Saint Domingue to Altona, laden with mahogany; taken in March 1800 by HMS Diligence brig (Robert Mends commanding) and HMS Surprise (Christopher La Roche commanding), and brought into Jamaica.

Appellant: The master for ship and cargo on behalf of Joseph Levy of St Thomas, Danish subject.

Respondent: The captors and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 14 July 1803 (folios 436-454).

Decision: cause to stand over for further enquiries.
