Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of St Vincent. Captured ship: Commerce brig (master Jonathan Neale). Nationality: American. History: bound from Guadeloupe to Salem, Massachusetts, laden with sugar; taken on 31 January 1794 by the privateer Christopher (James Smith commanding), and brought into St Vincent. Appellant: Samuel Bayard, the American Agent on behalf of the master for the ship; and on behalf of the master and William Gray junior, both of Salem, Massachusetts, for the cargo. Respondent: The captor. Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 24 June 1803 (folios 213-221). Decision: ship and cargo to be restored subject to further proof.
