Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Gibraltar.

Captured ship: Minerva (master John Ernst Bottcher).

Nationality: Prussian.

History: bound from Danzig to Cadiz or Barcelona, laden with wheat; taken on 13 July 1797 by the privateer Revenge (John Cowen commanding), and brought into Gibraltar.

Appellant: Samuel Scott and Joshua Jepson Oddy merchants of London for the cargo on behalf of David Weichbrodt, Herman Meyer and Gottlieb Lesse, merchants of Danzig.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 22 June 1803 (folios 196-200).

Decision: value of cargo affirmed; reduction for freight referred to the registrar.
