Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica. Captured ship: Flora (master James Lovett). Nationality: American. History: bound from Cartagena to Cadiz, though allegedly to New York, laden with cotton, fustic, gold ignots, milled doubloons; taken on 21 June 1799 by HMS York (John Ferrier commanding) and HMS Maidstone (Ross Donnelly commanding), and brought into Jamaica. Appellant: 1) William Savage and James Lovett for the ship and the cargo being variouslythe property of John Blagge merchant of New York, James Drake supercargo and the master. Respondent: The captors and HMPG; 2) cross-suit by the same parties. Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 18 June 1803 (folios 121-141). Decision: cargo and specie to be restored; further proof required as to the property of John Blagge; further proof required as to the ship.
