Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Minorca.

Captured ship: Genereux (master Ciprien Raynauden [Mathieu-Cyprien Renaudin]).

Nationality: French.

History: a French warship [and flagship of Admiral Perree], bound from Toulon to Malta, laden with arms, stores, ammunition [and troops]; taken at the Battle of the Malta Convoy on 18 February 1800 by a naval squadron under Lord Nelson, and brought into Minorca.

Appellant: Alexander Todd, the father and administrator of Andrew Todd, deceased (late commander of HMS Queen Charlotte); George Miller (commander of HMS Minorca), Raphael de Cosa (late commander of Neapolitan figate Serena), and William Truscott (commander of HMS Louisa armed brig).

Sir Edward Berry (late commander HMS Foudroyant), George Martin (late commander HMS Northumberland), William Harrington (late commander HMS Alexander), Davidge Gould (late commander HMS Audacious), Shuldham Peard (late commander HMS Success), Thomas James Maling (late commander HMS La Bonne Citoyenne) and William Ricketts (late commander HMS El Corso brig).

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 7 May 1803 (folios 222-230).
