Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Nancy (master Jurgen Nielson Knudsen).

Nationality: Danish.

History: bound from Batavia to Copenhagen, laden with coffee and sugar; taken on 31 July 1798 by HMS Trusty (Andrew Todd commanding), and brought into the Downs.

Appellant: 1) John Taylor for the ship on behalf of C S Blacks Widow and Co of Copenhagen.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG; 2) cross-suit between the same parties.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 5 April 1803 (folios 39-65A) [folio 79 followed by folios 60A - 65A].

Decision: appeal for the cargo rejected; ship condemned as lawful prize.
