Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Tortola.

Captured ship: Louisa Augusta (master Lewis Kirringdongo).

Nationality: Danish.

History: bound from Cap Francois, Saint Domingue to St Thomas, laden with coffee, dry goods, dollars and other articles; taken on 4 September 1797 by the privateer Young John (John Hodge commanding), and brought into Tortola.

Appellant: Paul Caminati of St Thomas, Danish subject, for the ship and cargo.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 29 March 1803 (folios 402-411).

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored.
