Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured ship: Vrouw Charlotte (master Daniel Losewitz).

Nationality: Swedish.

History: bound from Cadiz to Charleston, laden with wine, sherry, olives, gin, vinegar and fruit; taken on 7 March 1798 by HMS Prevoyante (Charles Wemyss commanding), and brought into Halifax.

Appellant: The master for the ship as Swedish property; and Robert Getty on behalf of Messrs Neil and Getty merchants of Boston, for the cargo.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 8 June 1801 (folios 382-402).

Decision: to be restored.
