Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica.

Captured ship: Harmony (master Peter Mulder).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Charleston to Havana, laden with salt, rice, brandy, dry goodsand other merchandise; taken on 29 December 1798 by HMS Squirrel (James Hampstead commanding), and brought into Jamaica.

Appellant: The master of behalf of Caspar Christian Schutt merchant of Charleston.

Respondent: The captor (with a cross-suit).

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 14 May 1801 (folios 136-149).

Decision: to be restored.
