Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Dominica.

Captured ship: Ceres schooner (master Edward Taylor).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Martinique to Plymouth, Massachusetts, laden with sugar, molasses, cocoa, coffee and specie; taken on 23 January 1794 by the privateer Mary (John Hall commanding), and brought into Dominica.

Appellant: Samuel Bayard the American Agent on behalf of Barnabas Hedge of Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 6 July 1799 (folios 269-271).

Decision: cargo restored.
