Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of St Kitts.

Captured ship: Hetty (master John Sullivan).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Barbados and Martinique to Philadelphia, laden with sugar, coffee, cotton and pepper; taken on 19 December 1793 by the privateer Sukey and Polly (Robert Bogge commanding), and brought into St Kitts.

Appellant: Samuel Bayard the American Agent.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of [June] 1799 (folios 1-12).

Decision: sentence reversed, but principal cause retained.
