Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Montserrat.

Captured ship: Hannah (master John Bartlett).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Guadeloupe to Boston, laden with sugar and coffee; taken on 4 February 1794 by the privateers Experiment (Daniel Morgan commanding and Rattlesnake (William Doyle commanding), and brought into Montserrat.

Appellant: Samuel Bayard, the American Agent, on behalf of Charles Sigourney, Thomas Hill and John Gregory of Boston, and of John Roger Champagne and John Deyme the younger of Baltimore.

Respondent: The captors.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 2 May 1798 (folios 65-74).

Decision: to be restored.
