Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Sophia et Anne (master Lars Rudbeck).

Nationality: Danish.

History: bound from Copenhagen to Genoa, laden with saltpetre, hemp, wheat etc; taken on 17 April 1794 by HMS Weazel (Hon John Murray commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.

Appellant: Jens Wolff, Danish consul in London, on behalf of Peter Peschier merchant of Copenhagen.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 17 April 1798 (folios 463-474).

Decision: to be restored, further proof required.
