Custodial history: Flight Sergeant Hardy's original personal logbook came into the custody of the Air Ministry in 1962 via Air Marshal Sir Douglas MacFadyen, who had received it from a Dutch acquaintance. Logbooks were generally treated as the personal possessions of aircrew and would be passed to the next of kin if a man was killed in action. However, attempts to contact Hardy's widow had been unsuccessful. The logbook was returned to Hardy's family in April 2021.
