Administrative / biographical background:

Amongst its many responsibilities, the Employment Services Division was responsible for the development and maintenance of government policies around the maintenance and improvement of the employment prospects for disabled persons. Its objective was to accomplish this in a less staff-intensive way during a period of recession and high unemployment.

The division also undertook a review of the statutory quota sheme for employment of disabled people. The Commission promoted the employment of disabled people with the 'Code of Good Practice on the Employment of Disabled People'.
