In August 1977 Lord Carver was appointed resident commissioner designate for Rhodesia with responsibility for ending the dispute over independence there. He resigned after fourteen months of deadlock. This collection was created by Lt Col W E Rous, one of Lord Carver’s Secretariat staff.
