Administrative / biographical background: |
The Home and Transport Division (HE 1) and the Education and Libraries Division (HE 2) were constituted as part of the Home, Transport and Education Group within the Public Sector under the Treasury re-organisation of October 1975. The functions of HE 1 Division had previously been the responsibility of the Public Enterprises Division (T 319) and Social Services Division (T 227) and HE 2 Division solely from the Social Services Division. In 1981 teams in the Home, Transport and Education Group were reorganised and the HE prefix was divided into several prefixes: the Home, Law and Administration of Justice team used HLAJ (T 489), the Higher Education team used HIE (T 494) and the Schools and Further Education team used SFE (T 479). |
