Administrative / biographical background: |
The Energy Conservation Scheme was approved by the Industrial Development Advisory Board (IDAB) in 1978 with an investment budget of £90-105 million. It was administered by Branch 3 of the Research and Technology Requirements and Perspective Division. The Scheme was intended to encourage energy savings in industry and commerce. It provided assistance in the form of capital grants for eligible projects and grants towards the costs of consultants's fees for schemes such as the replacement/modernisation of boilers, combined heat and power schemes and insulation of premises. The scheme was planned to last for two years but in fact closed in 1981. |
