To: William Clarke, Churchwarden, Luton [Bedfordshire].

From: The General Board of Health.

Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter of the 27 May 1850 requesting a copy of the petition on which the Inquiry at Luton was instituted according to the provisions of the Public Health Act 1848, and also asking as to what manner and what circumstances the petition was made, as it is considered that it did not contain one tenth of the inhabitants legally rated to the relief of the poor. In reply the Board give procedural guidance on this matter.
