3594. [Clinton] to Germain. New York. Seperate. In answer to his previous letter, informs that Major Hay is only the second of the three gentleman whom were appointed to the office of Commissary of Captures during the siege of Charlestown [Charleston]. Germain had every reason to be satisfied with his services as he was very active and useful in the line in which he was employed. Begs leave to recommend to the Lords of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury, Colonel Robinson to be Commissary of Captured Cattle in North America.
