Administrative / biographical background: |
The Greater London Transport Division was created within the newly formed Department of Transport in 1976. It was responsible for transport planning in the GLC area; transport matters, including GLC transport policies and programme. In 1983 the Division was split into Greater London Transport Division 1, which was responsible for transport policy and organisation in the GLC area and financial aspects of transport in London and Greater London Transport Division 2 which was responsible for public transport legislation for London. Neither Division used the GLT prefix. |
