Administrative / biographical background: |
The Directorate of Management Services was established in 1969 within the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works, having oversight of the Computer Group, the Organisation and Methods Divison and the General Division. In 1971 these Divisions were joined by the Operational Research Division. In 1972 the Directorate became the responsibility of the Department of the Environment and in 1974 the Defence Planning and Emergencies Division was added. This remained the structure of the Directorate until 1976 when the Manpower Division was added. This addition led to a name change, and the Directorate became the Manpower and Management Services Directorate. The Directorate ceased to raise the MS, MM, MSO and MS/LIB in 1984. |
