Administrative / biographical background:

The Drivers Policy and Systems Division was established in 1974 as part of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Group. Its remit was the development of driver policy. In 1976 this function was transferred to the Drivers and Vehicles Policy Division. In 1977 this division was transferred to the Department of Transport and the following year the function was transferred to the Driver Vehicle Licensing Financial and General Division. The latter Division ceased to raise DPS files in 1981.
