Administrative / biographical background: |
The Greater London Housing and Planning Directorate was set up in 1977. Its functions were essentially the same as those of the Planning and Housing Divisions of the Department of the Environment Regional Offices. It reported through the functional deputy secretaries concerned. With the abolition of the greater London Council (GLC) in 1985/6, the Greater London Housing and Greater London Planning Divisions at the London Regional Office were re-named as London Regional Housing and London Regional Planning: the file prefix reflected the change of acronym. |
