Network SouthEast was established in June 1986 as the business sector responsible for operating those British Rail passenger services in London and the south east not worked by the InterCity sector. The London commuter network was the largest in the world, covering over 940 stations and serving a population of 18 million. Network SouthEast ceased to exist in March 1994 on the reorganisation of British Rail preparatory to privatisation. |
