Administrative / biographical background:

The post of Governor of Grenada was abolished in January 1960 and the role of Her Majesty's representative in Grenada was instead filled by an Administrator. The Administrator exercised those duties belonging to the former Governer that were not transferred to the local administration following the recommendations of the 1959 constitutional conference. In March 1967 Grenada achieved the status of an Associated State, at which time the post of Administrator was abolished, and that of Governor Restored.
