Administrative / biographical background: |
The Work Research Unit was set up as part of the Research and Planning Division in 1974. Its function was to provide advice to firms on job design and work organisation in the areas of job satisfaction and efficiency. The Unit took over secretarial duties for the Tripartite Steering Group on Job Satisfaction from the Central Information Service. In 1981 the Unit became part of the Economic and Social division and in 1986 was moved to the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. The Tripartite Steering Group appears to have been wound up at this time. |
