Description:

Folios 28 and 31. Covering letter from Jno [John] Sharpe to Andrew Stone. Accompanying petition of Mr Schvez [Schivez], and letter to Attorney General [Sir Dudley Ryder] calling Lord McLeod to Judgement [not enclosed]. Enclosures:

1. Folio 29. Petition of Robert Schivez of Mourtoun, to Newcastle. Raised company of foot, at personal expense, for government in 1715. Government supporter during [1745] rebellion. Threatened by rebels many times, who stole his cattle and other goods. Applying to be appointed factor on Lovat's and other nearby forfeited estates.

2. Folio 30. Affidavit in support of Robert Schivez. Signed by ministers Tho [Thomas] Chisholm, Pat [Patrick] Nicolson and Alexr [Alexander] McBean. In 1715 raised company from his tenants for service of Government. Loyal to the Crown, especially during [1745 Jacobite] rebellion. Schivez often threatened, had money and effects stolen.
