From 1942 the ministerial Machinery of Government Committee assisted by official committees dealt with machinery of government questions; at the end of 1945 the Ministerial Committee decided that the Treasury should accept the responsibility and a small MG section was set up; in 1947 it was incorporated into the Organisation and Methods Section. In 1968 the machinery of government function passed to the new Civil Service Department. |
