Description:

Folios 173-175. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from JTG [John Thomas Graves, Poor Law Inspector], to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union Workhouse on 21 May 1867; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards etc. He notes that the guardians have adopted W B Baker's plans of tick of way for vagrants and the numbers of vagrants have lessened. He also notes an extract from the visitors book 5 November 1867 that James Lee and James Waldron have been 'ill using' James Ganderton and were ordered into custody (see 48004/1867).

He states the nail trade has been much depressed and there are more paupers in and out of the workhouse than the same time last year.

Also enclosed is a note titled 'Copy entry made in the Visitors' Book, by HM Inspector of Schools'. [Most of the note is torn and the writing missing].
