Administrative / biographical background: |
The Bridges Engineering Division was responsible for: technical approval of all types of trunk road structures; lighting columns and sign gantries. Additionally, the Division was responsible for the technical approval of local authority road structures that were receiving Transport Policies and Programme grants. These grants were given to local authorities to support Rate Support Grants and the grant amount reflected the scope of the transport policy and works programme of the local authority. |
