The Caribbean and Pacific Department (1979-1981) was succeeded by the Caribbean, Pacific and Latin American Department (1981-1982), the Latin American, Caribbean and Pacific Department (1982-1989), the Caribbean and Atlantic Department (1989-1990) and the Latin America, Caribbean and Atlantic Department (1990-), dealing with the provision of development aid to these geographical areas. Initially the Department only dealt with non-dependent territories in the Caribbean, as aid to dependent territories continued to be provided in co-operation with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office until 1984. |
