Folios 26-27. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from Dr Edward Smith, Poor Law Inspector to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Basford Poor Law Union Workhouse on 23 February 1866; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards. He questions the standard of diet in the workhouse and he notes that wash basins are needed instead of troughs so that each may wash with clean water. Also that the refractory ward is too dark and straw or other matting should be placed on the floor.
